Cathie Richards – Principal

My career has been diverse with everything from public practice, to state and federal government, non-profit and multinationals in finance roles both here and in London.

I moved back to practice as I really enjoy the opportunities presented from running my own business and the level of client engagement.

Coming from a commercial background, I find working with clients to develop their businesses and realise their goals extremely rewarding.

I’m very enthusiastic about cloud based applications and the impact and opportunities it provides to enhance business processes, working collaboratively with clients in this environment so we can add value to business.

I have a strong interest too in structuring for business and asset protection purposes. Tailoring it to the individual client’s circumstances.

Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs) are also of interest to me. We have a client base who require more individual solutions in respect of asset accumulation and protection and I see it as part of a holistic view of a particular clients options. For this reason, I elected to undertake further studies so that I could be eligible to obtain the limited license RGS 146 at some stage now the accountants exemption has been removed. As a firm, we will work with a clients financial advisor to make the initial judgements regarding the respective merits for the client to limit the cost for them. We continue to prepare all financials, tax returns and compliance work to ensure the best interests of our clients are met.

We represent clients in sectors such as medicine, resources, small business, professions, academics and the Arts, so each day is varied and rewarding.

When I’m not working my time is spent enjoying being a parent, as my son still thinks its ok to hang around with me or perhaps it’s because he’s too young to drive so doesn’t have a choice! Thankfully he has inherited my interest in the Arts and coffee shops so our free time is spent in galleries, theatre, etc. The gym has become a mandatory part of our life to make up for the food crimes committed in cafes. I have also taken up studying French again with some friends on the assumption that I may never retire so best to have some fun along the way.
